Matsushita Starts Volume Producing 45nm UniPhier System LSIs

Matsushita recently announced the volume production of 45nm system LSIs (Large Scale Integration) at its Uozu fab in central Japan. Matsushita's new UniPhier (Universal Platform for High-quality Image Enhancing Revolution) system LSIs incorporate AV codec that powers next-generation image data compression standard, such as H.264. Furthermore, the new UniPhier chips are capable of processing two 1080p HD (High-Definition) displays simultaneously as well as compressing 1080p HD images to less than half their original sizes.
